Are you crazy about Frida like we are? This is such a beautiful tribute to her. We are loving drinking yerba out of this wooden mate cup and love taking pictures with it.

These mates are made out of a wood called "algarroobo." With proper care, and the right curing method, these wood mate cups are made to last for years. They won’t leak or crack. As they season over time, your yerba mate experience will deepen and acquire the mellow-ness of the wood.
Wooden mates are another type of mate cup often used in South America to drink yerba. While seemingly sturdy, these wooden mates are actually amongst the most fragile. Like the gourds, they can crack, chip or mold without proper care. in fact, out of all the types of yerba mate gourds, wood is one of the most fragile. Even more so than the gourds.
Be sure to follow all the directions included with your mate gourd. Take your time with curing. I am currently on my 4th year with my wooden gourd with no problem.
Please hand wash these mates and never use detergent unless necessary. Try not to use water that is too hot either. You do not want the wood expanding and contracting and cracking the paint.
This is a natural product, real wood, the colors will vary, mate to mate.
